The unique 2-canal design of the Variphone allows each device to be adjusted to individual specifications. The adjustable valve allows the attenuation (amount of protection) to be set to reduce the noise exposure to safe levels. The fine tuning of the attenuation, with accuracy of 1dB, results in the ability to still communicate in most noisy environments thus reserving the ability to still hear alarms and other warning signals etc. Each Variphone is tested in each individual's ear to check and ensure leak tightness. This is followed by the precise adjustment for a calibrated amount of attenuation and factors such as noise exposure levels, duration of shifts, age, noisy hobbies, existing hearing loss etc. are taken into consideration. These quality controls only takes a few minutes per person and are usually performed on-site. Variphones are lightweight, durable (acrylic), and comfortable enough to wear for an entire shift. It is delivered in a durable storage pouch andare available in various colours.
